Amends the Election Code. Establishes the Office of Campaign Finance Disclosure Auditor within the State Board of Elections, under the direction and supervision of an Auditor appointed by the State Board. Requires the Auditor to audit campaign finance disclosure reports and authorizes the Auditor to conduct audits and investigations with respect to campaign finance statements and forms filed with the State Board.

| AN ACT concerning elections.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 |
| 9-40 as follows:
|

| (10 ILCS 5/9-40 new) |

| Sec. 9-40. Office of Campaign Finance Disclosure Auditor. |

| The Office of Campaign Finance Disclosure Auditor is |
| 9 |
| established within the State Board of Elections. The Office |
| 10 |
| shall be under the direction and supervision of a Campaign |
| 11 |
| Finance Disclosure Auditor, appointed by the State Board. The |
| 12 |
| State Board shall determine the compensation of the Auditor and |
| 13 |
| provide the Auditor with technical support. The Auditor may |
| 14 |
| employ necessary staff, with approval of the State Board. |
| 15 |
| The Auditor shall audit campaign finance disclosure |
| 16 |
| reports filed under this Article. The Auditor may conduct |
| 17 |
| audits and investigations with respect to statements and forms |
| 18 |
| required by this Article to be filed with the State Board.
