Amends the Regional Transportation Authority Act. Requires all fixed route public transportation services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service contract of, the Commuter Rail Board to be provided at reduced charge to all students in attendance at institutions of education within the territorial limits of the Authority, under such procedures as shall be prescribed by the Board. Provides that the requirement is contingent upon State reimbursement.

| AN ACT concerning transportation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is |
| 5 |
| amended by adding Section 3B.16 as follows:
|

| (70 ILCS 3615/3B.16 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 3B.16. Transit services for students. Notwithstanding |
| 8 |
| any law to the contrary, no later than 60 days following the |
| 9 |
| effective date of this amendatory Act of the 96th General |
| 10 |
| Assembly, all fixed route public transportation services |
| 11 |
| provided by, or under grant or purchase of service contract of, |
| 12 |
| the Commuter Rail Board shall be provided at reduced charge to |
| 13 |
| all students in attendance at institutions of education within |
| 14 |
| the territorial limits of the Authority, under such procedures |
| 15 |
| as shall be prescribed by the Board. The requirements of this |
| 16 |
| Section are contingent upon State reimbursement.
