| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 11-15.1-6 as follows:
|

| (65 ILCS 5/11-15.1-6 new) |

| Sec. 11-15.1-6. Annexation agreement; basic services. The |
| 8 |
| failure of an annexation agreement entered into by an annexing |
| 9 |
| municipality to specify the basic services that the annexing |
| 10 |
| municipality shall provide to the annexed territory does not |
| 11 |
| relieve the annexing municipality from providing those |
| 12 |
| services.

| 13 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 |
| becoming law.
