| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4681

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4681 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | changing Section 3-645 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (625 ILCS 5/3-645)
| ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 3-645. Vietnam Veteran License Plates.
| ||||||
| 8 | (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the
the | ||||||
| 9 | Secretary, upon
receipt of all applicable fees and applications | ||||||
| 10 | made in the form prescribed by
the Secretary of State, may | ||||||
| 11 | issue Vietnam Veteran license plates to residents
of Illinois | ||||||
| 12 | who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the Secretary | ||||||
| 13 | of
State. The special Vietnam Veteran plate issued under this | ||||||
| 14 | Section shall be
affixed only to passenger vehicles of the | ||||||
| 15 | first division, motorcycles, and
motor vehicles of the second | ||||||
| 16 | division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds.
Plates issued | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | under this Section shall expire according to the staggered
| ||||||
| 2 | multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this | ||||||
| 3 | Code. | ||||||
| 4 | (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be | ||||||
| 5 | wholly
within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The | ||||||
| 6 | Secretary may, in his or
her discretion, allow the plates to be | ||||||
| 7 | issued as vanity plates or personalized
in accordance with | ||||||
| 8 | Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required
to | ||||||
| 9 | designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of | ||||||
| 10 | Section
3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe the | ||||||
| 11 | eligibility requirements
and, in his or her discretion, shall | ||||||
| 12 | approve and prescribe stickers or decals
as provided under | ||||||
| 13 | Section 3-412.
| ||||||
| 14 | (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original | ||||||
| 15 | issuance in
addition to the applicable registration fee. This | ||||||
| 16 | additional fee shall be
deposited into the Secretary of State | ||||||
| 17 | Special License Plate Fund.
| ||||||
