Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Requires that a fire protection district must post on its website all ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriation. Provides that, if a district does not maintain a website, then the district must publish the ordinances in a newspaper of general circulation within the district. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 7 as follows:
|

| (70 ILCS 705/7) (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 27)
|

| Sec. 7. Posting and publication of ordinances. All |
8 |
| ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriations
|
9 |
| shall, within one month after they are passed, be (i) posted on |
10 |
| the district's website or (ii) if the district does not |
11 |
| maintain a website, published at least once
in a newspaper |
12 |
| published in said district, or if no such newspaper of
general |
13 |
| circulation is published therein, then either by one |
14 |
| publication in
any newspaper of general circulation within said |
15 |
| territory or by posting
copies of the same in 10 ten public |
16 |
| places in the district . No ; and no such
ordinance shall take |
17 |
| effect until 10 ten days after it is so published or
posted, |
18 |
| and all other ordinances and resolutions shall take effect from |
19 |
| and
after their passage unless otherwise provided therein.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |

| becoming law.
