| AN ACT concerning business.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
| 5 |
| Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2III as follows:
|

| 7 |
| Sec. 2III. Enrollment of consumer in merchandise "club" or |
| 8 |
| group. If a consumer purchases merchandise, it is an unlawful |
| 9 |
| practice under this Act for the seller of the merchandise to |
| 10 |
| enroll the consumer in a "club" or group whereby the consumer |
| 11 |
| will periodically receive from the seller or another person |
| 12 |
| shipments of similar merchandise not ordered or otherwise |
| 13 |
| expressly requested by the consumer, unless the consumer |
| 14 |
| expressly agrees in writing to be enrolled in the "club" or |
| 15 |
| group and receive such periodic shipments of merchandise.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 17 |
| becoming law.
