| AN ACT concerning health.
|
2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental |
5 |
| Disabilities Code is amended by changing Section 1-106 as |
6 |
| follows:
|

| (405 ILCS 5/1-106) (from Ch. 91 1/2, par. 1-106)
|

| Sec. 1-106.
"Developmental disability" means a disability |
9 |
| which is
attributable to: (a) mental retardation, cerebral |
10 |
| palsy, epilepsy or autism;
or to (b) any other condition which |
11 |
| results in impairment similar to that
that
caused by mental |
12 |
| retardation and which requires services similar to those
|
13 |
| required by mentally retarded persons. Such disability must |
14 |
| originate before
the age of 18 years,
be expected to continue |
15 |
| indefinitely, and constitute
a substantial handicap. |
