| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| adding Section 15.8 as follows:
|

| Sec. 15.8. Fire protection districts; intergovernmental |
| 8 |
| agreement for 9-1-1 calls. Notwithstanding any provision of law |
| 9 |
| to the contrary, a fire protection district may, by |
| 10 |
| intergovernmental agreement, enter into a contract with any |
| 11 |
| county in which the fire protection district is partially |
| 12 |
| located for the county to receive and manage all 9-1-1 |
| 13 |
| emergency calls made within the fire protection district upon |
| 14 |
| terms agreeable to the fire protection district and the county. |
| 15 |
| The board members of the fire protection district must approve |
| 16 |
| the intergovernmental agreement by a majority vote of the |
| 17 |
| members then holding office. The county board of the county |
| 18 |
| must approve the intergovernmental agreement by a majority vote |
| 19 |
| of the members then holding office.
