Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that a person may not sell, market, promote, advertise, or otherwise distribute an individual's social security number without that individual's express written consent. Makes a person's violation of this provision an unlawful practice under the Act.

| AN ACT concerning business.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
5 |
| Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2III as follows: |

| (815 ILCS 505/2III new) |
7 |
| Sec. 2III. Unauthorized distribution of social security |
8 |
| number. A person may not sell, market, promote, advertise, or |
9 |
| otherwise distribute an individual's social security number |
10 |
| without that individual's express written consent. A person's |
11 |
| violation of this Section is an unlawful practice within the |
12 |
| meaning of this Act.
