| AN ACT concerning civil law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 71 as follows:
|

| 7 |
| Sec. 71. Exemption from civil liability in emergencies
|
| 8 |
| requiring building evacuations. Any person who in good faith |
| 9 |
| provides emergency care, without fee or compensation, to any |
| 10 |
| person at the scene of an emergency that necessitates the |
| 11 |
| evacuation of a building shall not, as a result of his or her |
| 12 |
| acts or omissions, except willful and wanton misconduct on the |
| 13 |
| part of the person in providing the emergency care, be liable |
| 14 |
| to a person to whom such emergency care is provided for civil |
| 15 |
| damages. This Section shall apply to causes of action accruing |
| 16 |
| on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the |
| 17 |
| 96th General Assembly.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 19 |
| becoming law.
