Amends the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Provides that the Department of Public Health may not regulate the practice of extracting honey from a bee comb by a beekeeper, nor may the Department regulate or inspect honey houses. Defines "honey house" as any stationary or portable building, or any room or
place within a building, used for the purpose of extracting,
processing, or other handling of honey. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning health.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is |
5 |
| amended by adding Section 21.4 as follows: |
6 |
| (410 ILCS 620/21.4 new) |

| Sec. 21.4. Honey. Notwithstanding any other provision of |
8 |
| this Act, the Department may not regulate the practice of |
9 |
| extracting honey from a bee comb by a beekeeper, nor may the |
10 |
| Department regulate or inspect honey houses. As used in this |
11 |
| Section, "honey house" means any stationary or portable |
12 |
| building, or any room or
place within a building, used for the |
13 |
| purpose of extracting,
processing, or other handling of honey.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
15 |
| becoming law.
|
