Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall develop a training and education program on public playground safety issues. Provides that the program may be presented annually and may be available through the Department's website. Provides that the Department shall adopt rules, based on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's standards, to develop standards for public playground equipment by June 30, 2011. Makes other changes.

| AN ACT concerning public health.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and |
5 |
| Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is |
6 |
| amended by adding Section 2310-655 as follows: |
7 |
| (20 ILCS 2310/2310-655 new) |

| Sec. 2310-655. Training and education program on |
9 |
| playground safety. |
10 |
| (a) For the purpose of this Section, "public playground |
11 |
| equipment" means equipment intended for use in the play areas |
12 |
| of parks, schools, and recreational developments. "Public |
13 |
| playground equipment" does not include equipment in |
14 |
| restaurants or dwellings. |
15 |
| (b) The Department of Public Health shall develop a |
16 |
| training and education program on public playground safety |
17 |
| issues. The program may be presented annually and may be |
18 |
| available through the Department's website. The Department may |
19 |
| inform public health entities within this State of the program. |
20 |
| A representative from each affected entity in the State may |
21 |
| participate in the program. |

| The Department shall adopt rules, based on the U.S. |
23 |
| Consumer Product Safety Commission's standards, to develop |
