Amends the Autopsy Act. Provides that an autopsy may only be performed in a hospital or a facility maintained by a coroner. Provides that records shall be retained for as long as other medical records at the place the autopsy is performed. Effective immediately.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Autopsy Act is amended by changing Section 3 |
5 |
| as follows:
|

| Sec. 3.
The authorized personnel of a hospital or other |
8 |
| qualified
personnel selected by a physician may assist a |
9 |
| physician performing an
autopsy. An autopsy may only be |
10 |
| performed in a hospital or a facility maintained by a coroner. |

| All records and documentation, including pathology slides and |
12 |
| all examined specimens, shall be retained for as long as other |
13 |
| medical records at the place the autopsy is performed.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |

| becoming law.
