| AN ACT concerning health.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental |
| 5 |
| Disabilities Code is amended by adding Section 5-108.2 as |
| 6 |
| follows:
|
| 7 |
| (405 ILCS 5/5-108.2 new) |
| 8 |
| Sec. 5-108.2. Exemption from charges; veterans. Any |
| 9 |
| veteran who receives services provided by a State mental health |
| 10 |
| facility that are not covered by the veteran's existing |
| 11 |
| insurance plan shall not be liable for any charges as set forth |
| 12 |
| in Sections 5-105, 5-106, and 5-107 of this Code. For purposes |
| 13 |
| of this Section, "veteran" means an Illinois resident who is a |
| 14 |
| veteran as defined under subsection (h) of Section 1491 of |
| 15 |
| Title 10 of the United States Code.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, |
| 17 |
| 2010.
