| AN ACT concerning transportation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 16-104e as follows:
|

| (625 ILCS 5/16-104e new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 16-104e. Minimum penalty for traffic offenses. A |
| 8 |
| person who, after a court appearance in the same matter, is |
| 9 |
| found guilty of or pleads guilty to, including any person |
| 10 |
| receiving a disposition of court supervision, a violation of |
| 11 |
| this Code or a similar provision of a local ordinance shall |
| 12 |
| pay, at a minimum, a fine that may not be waived equal to the |
| 13 |
| amount of bail required by Supreme Court Rule 526. This Section |
| 14 |
| shall not limit the discretion of the court to impose a fine or |
| 15 |
| penalty greater than the minimum amount required by this |
| 16 |
| Section.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January |
| 18 |
| 1, 2011.
