1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 6453

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 6453 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by | ||||||
5 | changing Section 6-130 as follows: | ||||||
6 | (605 ILCS 5/6-130) (from Ch. 121, par. 6-130) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 6-130. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act | ||||||
8 | to the contrary,
no
township road district may continue in | ||||||
9 | existence if the roads forming a
part of the district do not | ||||||
10 | exceed a total of 10 4 miles in length. For purposes of this | ||||||
11 | Section, the roads forming a part of a township road district | ||||||
12 | include those roads maintained by the district, regardless of | ||||||
13 | whether or not those roads are owned by the township. On the
| ||||||
14 | first Tuesday in April of 2013 1975 , or of any subsequent year | ||||||
15 | next succeeding
the reduction of a township road system to a | ||||||
16 | total mileage of 10 4 miles or
less, each such township road |

1 | district shall, by operation of law, be
abolished. The roads | ||||||
2 | comprising that district at that time shall thereafter
be | ||||||
3 | administered by the township board of trustees by contracting | ||||||
4 | with the
county, a municipality or a private contractor. The | ||||||
5 | township board of trustees
shall assume all taxing authority of | ||||||
6 | a township road district abolished under
this Section. | ||||||
