     Amends the Illinois Controlled Substances Act.  Provides that a licensed physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled substances.

    AN ACT concerning criminal law.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Controlled Substances Act is 
5
amended  by changing Section 103 as follows:

    Sec. 103. Scope of Act. Nothing in this Act limits the 
8
lawful authority
granted by the
Medical Practice Act of 1987, 
9
the Nurse Practice
Act, the Illinois Optometric Practice Act of 
10
1987, or
the Pharmacy Practice Act.

    Notwithstanding any Section in this Act, a licensed 
12
physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled 
13
substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V 
14
controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in 
15
accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled 
16
substances.
