Amends the Illinois Controlled Substances Act. Provides that a licensed physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled substances.

| AN ACT concerning criminal law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Controlled Substances Act is |
5 |
| amended by changing Section 103 as follows:
|

| (720 ILCS 570/103) (from Ch. 56 1/2, par. 1103)

| Sec. 103. Scope of Act. Nothing in this Act limits the |
8 |
| lawful authority
granted by the
Medical Practice Act of 1987, |
9 |
| the Nurse Practice
Act, the Illinois Optometric Practice Act of |
10 |
| 1987, or
the Pharmacy Practice Act.

| Notwithstanding any Section in this Act, a licensed |
12 |
| physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled |
13 |
| substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V |
14 |
| controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in |
15 |
| accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled |
16 |
| substances. |
