Amends the Illinois Fairness in Lending Act. Provides that no financial institution or other entity whose business includes engaging in residential real estate-related transactions may discriminate against any person in making available such a transaction, or in the terms or conditions of such a transaction, on the basis that the person is pregnant.

1 | | AN ACT concerning business.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Fairness in Lending Act is amended |
5 | | by adding Section 7 as follows: |
6 | | (815 ILCS 120/7 new) |
7 | | Sec. 7. Familial status; residential real estate-related |
8 | | transactions. No financial institution or other entity whose |
9 | | business includes engaging in residential real estate-related |
10 | | transactions may discriminate against any person in making |
11 | | available such a transaction, or in the terms or conditions of |
12 | | such a transaction, on the basis that the person is pregnant. |
13 | | For the purpose of this Section, "residential real |
14 | | estate-related transaction" means the making or purchasing of |
15 | | loans (i) for purchasing, constructing, improving, repairing, |
16 | | or maintaining a dwelling or (ii) that are secured by |
17 | | residential real estate.
