| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Hank Gianvecchio |
| 4 |
| on a lifetime of accomplishments, including receiving the |
| 5 |
| Lifetime Achievement Award from the Italian American Political |
| 6 |
| Coalition; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, He was first elected to the office of Bloomingdale |
| 8 |
| Township Assessor in 1973 and has been re-elected eight more |
| 9 |
| times; Since he was elected he has led the Bloomingdale |
| 10 |
| Township Assessor's office through periods of tremendous |
| 11 |
| growth and technological change; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He is a consummate professional holding a State of |
| 13 |
| Illinois Appraisal License and is a Certified Illinois |
| 14 |
| Assessing Official; under his leadership his office has been a |
| 15 |
| model in Illinois for assessment equity and computerized |
| 16 |
| operations for efficiency and accuracy; the office has also |
| 17 |
| received many awards for professional and outstanding |
| 18 |
| performance; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He has received many professional awards over the |
| 20 |
| years and has served with distinction on the Board of Directors |
| 21 |
| of the Illinois Assessors Association and as Chairman of the |
| 22 |
| Legislative Committee; he is past President and past |
|

| Vice-President of the DuPage County Assessors Association, as |
| 2 |
| well as a Legislative Liaison; he is a member of the DuPage |
| 3 |
| County Assessors Association, International Association of |
| 4 |
| Assessing Officials, National Association of Independent Fee |
| 5 |
| Appraisers, Illinois Assessors Association, and the National |
| 6 |
| Association of Review Appraisers & Mortgage Underwriters; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, His educational background includes attendance |
| 8 |
| and testing over 70 classes, totaling more than 500 hours of |
| 9 |
| curricula consisting of appraisal theory and practice, |
| 10 |
| assessment valuation, real estate law, assessment |
| 11 |
| administration, and data processing; he has served two |
| 12 |
| different Illinois Governors on commissions, and brings his |
| 13 |
| expertise and knowledge to legislative committee hearings; he |
| 14 |
| worked with then Senate President Pate Philip and then Governor |
| 15 |
| Jim Edgar to make tax caps a reality in Illinois; and he was |
| 16 |
| appointed by former Governor Thompson to serve as a |
| 17 |
| commissioner on the Illinois Commission on Delinquency |
| 18 |
| Prevention in 1980 for a two year term; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He was appointed by Governor Edgar to serve as a |
| 20 |
| member of the Commission on Recodification of the Revenue Act |
| 21 |
| of 1939; he was also appointed by Governor Edgar to serve as a |
| 22 |
| member of the Commission on Property Tax Reform in 1998 and |
| 23 |
| appointed by former Senate President Pate Philip to serve as a |
| 24 |
| member of the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation in |

| 1999; and
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Upon retirement, at the end of this year, served |
| 3 |
| as assessor for Bloomingdale Township for the past 36 years; |
| 4 |
| and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Army |
| 6 |
| 4th Infantry Division and is a Vietnam Veteran; while in |
| 7 |
| Vietnam he earned the Presidential Unit Citation and the |
| 8 |
| Vietnam Campaign Ribbon; he served his community by teaching |
| 9 |
| computer courses part-time at the College of DuPage; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, He has had involvement with the YMCA, Indian |
| 11 |
| Guides, Career Education Program at Medinah School District |
| 12 |
| #11, Cooperative Education Program at Lake Park High School |
| 13 |
| District #108, and American Legion Post # 1084; he is a member |
| 14 |
| of many groups, including the Americans of Italian Decent and |
| 15 |
| the DuPage County Italian Americans; he is married to Geri and |
| 16 |
| has three children, Rick, Christopher, and Natasha; and he has |
| 17 |
| been a resident of DuPage County since 1970; therefore, be it
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 |
| congratulate Hank Gianvecchio on receiving the Lifetime |
| 21 |
| Achievement Award from the Italian American Political |
| 22 |
| Coalition and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be |
