2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sergeant Major | ||||||
4 | Craig C. Morrison on the occasion of his retirement from active | ||||||
5 | military service in the Illinois Army National Guard on March | ||||||
6 | 31, 2009, after more than 20 years of service to his State and | ||||||
7 | country; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, During the course of his military career, Craig C. | ||||||
9 | Morrison has received numerous honors for his consistent and | ||||||
10 | effective leadership, including the Driver and Wheeled | ||||||
11 | Mechanic Badge, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Military | ||||||
12 | Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Army Reserve | ||||||
13 | Component Overseas Training Ribbon, the Overseas Service | ||||||
14 | Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Non-Commissioned Officer | ||||||
15 | Professional Development Ribbon, the Humanitarian Service | ||||||
16 | Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National | ||||||
17 | Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), the Army Good Conduct Medal | ||||||
18 | (6th Award), the Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), the Army | ||||||
19 | Commendation Medal (4th Award), and the Meritorious Service | ||||||
20 | Medal; and

21 | WHEREAS, In recognition of his accumulated years of | ||||||
22 | exemplary service, the President of the United States of | ||||||
23 | America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, has |

1 | awarded Craig C. Morrison the Legion of Merit Award for his | ||||||
2 | "exceptionally meritorious service while serving in various | ||||||
3 | positions of increasing responsibility, culminating as the | ||||||
4 | Illinois Army National Guard Military Personnel (G1) Sergeant | ||||||
5 | Major"; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Legion of Merit Award states that "Sergeant | ||||||
7 | Major Morrison has prepared more soldiers' records for | ||||||
8 | deployment and redeployment in support of the Global War on | ||||||
9 | Terrorism than at any other time in the Illinois National Guard | ||||||
10 | history. He led from the front, accepting nothing less than | ||||||
11 | success . . . thereby ensuring accomplishment of the mission | ||||||
12 | and welfare of his soldiers. His outstanding performance is in | ||||||
13 | keeping with the highest traditions of military service and | ||||||
14 | reflects great credit on him, the Illinois Army National Guard | ||||||
15 | and the United States Army"; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Craig C. Morrison continues to pursue | ||||||
17 | opportunities in the private sector in order to serve and lead | ||||||
18 | his fellow Illinoisans; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
20 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
21 | honor and congratulate Sergeant Major Craig C. Morrison on the | ||||||
22 | occasion of his retirement from active military service, thank | ||||||
23 | him for his years of service to Illinois and to our country, |

1 | and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it | ||||||

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
