HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate John Sanders on his 
4
retirement as an  Assistant District Superintendent in the 
5
Department of Water Management for the City of Chicago; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, He is a longtime resident of Calumet Heights; and 
7
he is a member of the Merrill Avenue Baptist Church where he 
8
has served as a Deacon; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, He began his career in 1969 as a laborer with the 
10
Department of Streets and Sanitation; he later transferred to 
11
the Water Department; in 1979 he was promoted to Caulker on the 
12
Pipe Construction Crew; and in 1986 he was promoted to Foreman 
13
of Water Distribution in the Central District; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, In 1990 he was promoted to District Foreman, 
15
overseeing other foremen and supervisors in the South District; 
16
in 2002 he was promoted to his last position as an Assistant 
17
District Superintendent in the Department of Water Management, 
18
where he was in charge of supervising district foremen; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, On January 31, 2009 he officially retired from the 
20
Department of Water Management; and

    WHEREAS, John and his wife, Annetta, are the proud parents 
2
of John, Jr. and Sonya Quinn; the loving grandparents of six, 
3
and the doting great-grandparents of one; therefore, be it

 
4
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate John Sanders on his retirement and wish him the 
7
best in his future endeavors; and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to John Sanders as a symbol of our respect and 
10
esteem.
