| WHEREAS, Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood |
3 |
| vessels; also called angiitis, vasculitis causes changes in the |
4 |
| walls of blood vessels, including thickening, weakening, |
5 |
| narrowing, and scarring; the inflammation from these changes |
6 |
| can be short-term (acute) or long-term (chronic) and can be so |
7 |
| severe that the tissues and organs supplied by the affected |
8 |
| vessels don't receive enough blood; this shortage of blood can |
9 |
| result in organ and tissue damage, and even death; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Many types of vasculitis exist and, although rare, |
11 |
| vasculitis can affect anyone; some age groups are affected more |
12 |
| than others, depending on the type of vasculitis; while some |
13 |
| forms of vasculitis improve on their own, others require |
14 |
| treatment, which often includes long-term medication; each |
15 |
| year, 100,000 Americans are hospitalized for vasculitis care; |
16 |
| and
|

| WHEREAS, Diseases resulting from vasculitis include |
18 |
| Behcet's disease, Buerger's disease, Central Nervous System, |
19 |
| Churg Strauss syndrome, Cryoglobulinemia, Giant Cell |
20 |
| Arteritis, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, Hypersensitivity |
21 |
| vasculitis, Kawasaki disease, Microscopic Polyangiitis, |
22 |
| Polyarteritis nodosa, Polymyalgia rheumatica, Rheumatoid |

| vasculitis, Takayasu's arteritis, and Wegener's |
