| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representative are pleased to congratulate Roger E. Poole on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of his retirement as Directing Business | ||||||
| 5 | Representative of District 9 International Association of | ||||||
| 6 | Machinists and Aerospace Workers (I.A.M.A.W.); and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Roger Poole was a 43-year member of Automotive | ||||||
| 8 | Lodge 313 and was elected to serve as President and | ||||||
| 9 | Vice-President of the lodge; he was elected Business | ||||||
| 10 | Representative in January of 1979; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Roger Poole was elected to serve as Directing | ||||||
| 12 | Business Representative of District 9 I.A.M.A.W., a position he | ||||||
| 13 | served in from January 1, 2004 until his retirement; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Prior to joining the staff at District 9, Roger | ||||||
| 15 | Poole was active in his Local, serving as a delegate to the | ||||||
| 16 | Belleville Union Labor Council, the Southwestern Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | Central Labor Council, the Greater Madison County Federation of | ||||||
| 18 | Labor, District Lodge 9, the Illinois State Council of | ||||||
| 19 | Machinists, the Mid-West States Conference of Machinists, and | ||||||
| 20 | the Illinois State AFL-CIO; he also served as a delegate to | ||||||
| 21 | every I.A.M. convention since 1972; and
| ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Roger Poole is a member of the International | ||||||
| 2 | Association of Machinists Law Committee and the Machinists | ||||||
| 3 | Non-Partisan Political League National Planning Committee; he | ||||||
| 4 | has served as president of the Mid-West State Council of | ||||||
| 5 | Machinists and as president of the 12th Congressional District | ||||||
| 6 | of C.O.P.E. AFL-CIO; he has served as Vice-President of the | ||||||
| 7 | Illinois and Missouri State AFL-CIO; he has been an Executive | ||||||
| 8 | Board member of the St. Louis Labor Council and has served on | ||||||
| 9 | the Executive Committee of the United Way of Greater St. Louis; | ||||||
| 10 | he has also served as an elected Democrat Precinct | ||||||
| 11 | Committeeman; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Roger Poole was the recipient of the Labor Man of | ||||||
| 13 | the Year Award from the Southwestern Illinois Central Labor | ||||||
| 14 | Council and the Community Services Labor Man of the Year Award | ||||||
| 15 | from the St. Louis Labor Council; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Roger Poole has been married to his wife, Rosalie, | ||||||
| 17 | for 43 years; he has two sons, Brian and Jason, two | ||||||
| 18 | daughters-in-law, Barbara and Gina, and two grandchildren, | ||||||
| 19 | Darby and Cody; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 21 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 22 | congratulate Roger E. Poole on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
| 23 | and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | ||||||
