3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Philip F. Maher on | ||||||
4 | receiving the Spirit of John Marshall Award from The John | ||||||
5 | Marshall Law School Board of Trustees; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The principal of Philip F. Maher and Associates, | ||||||
7 | his areas of practice include: Medical & Professional | ||||||
8 | Negligence, Products Liability, Construction, Personal
Injury, | ||||||
9 | Automotive and Design, Automotive, Negligence, Trucking, | ||||||
10 | Aviation,
Pharmaceutical Litigation, and Wrongful Death; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, His previous honors and awards include the
| ||||||
12 | American Association for Justice (AAJ) Lifetime Achievement | ||||||
13 | Award in 2005; the
Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) | ||||||
14 | Leonard M. Ring Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006;
The John | ||||||
15 | Marshall Law School Distinguished Service Award in 1989;
the | ||||||
16 | Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) Partnership in | ||||||
17 | Advocacy Award for establishing its Advocacy Program in 2001;
| ||||||
18 | the ATLA Weidman-Wysocki Citation For Excellence in 1994, 2000, | ||||||
19 | 2003, and 2004; and the
Stalwarts Award 2000 through 2005;
and

20 | WHEREAS, He received his Bachelor of Science at Southern | ||||||
21 | Illinois University in 1965 and his Juris Doctor from The John | ||||||
22 | Marshall Law School in 1970; and

1 | WHEREAS, He served as
a manager of the ITLA Board of | ||||||
2 | Managers from 1986 to the present;
as a member of the ITLA | ||||||
3 | Malpractice Committee;
as an Advocate and member of the | ||||||
4 | American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA);
as a member of the | ||||||
5 | Appellate Lawyers Association of Illinois, 1989 to the present;
| ||||||
6 | and as a governor on the ATLA Board of Governors, 1994 to 2005;
| ||||||
7 | he served on the ATLA Executive Committee from 2001 to 2004 and | ||||||
8 | on the Leadership Forum; he was on the Academic Liaison | ||||||
9 | Committee as a member of the Pac Task Force;
and he served as a | ||||||
10 | member of the National Co-Chair Law School Committee,
1999 to | ||||||
11 | 2008; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, He has acted as the Chairman of the Tort Committee | ||||||
13 | of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and the Chairman | ||||||
14 | of the Liaison Committee between the Illinois State Bar | ||||||
15 | Association and the Circuit Court of Cook County; he has | ||||||
16 | lectured before the ISBA, ITLA, and ATLA; and he is the founder | ||||||
17 | of the ATLA Partnership in Advocacy Program; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, In addition, he served as
Chair, Partnership in | ||||||
19 | Advocacy, 1999 to the present; as a member of
AAJ, National | ||||||
20 | Chair of the Ambassador Program;
as a past president and | ||||||
21 | current member of The John Marshall Law School Alumni | ||||||
22 | Association Board of Directors; and is recommended as a Leading | ||||||
23 | Lawyer in Illinois; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
3 | congratulate Philip F. Maher on receiving this prestigious | ||||||
4 | award from The John Marshall Law School Board of Trustees; and | ||||||
5 | be it further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
