HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to recognize Riverton Village 
4
President Joe Rusciolelli on his retirement; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Joe Rusciolelli was born October 22, 1923 and has 
6
been a lifelong resident of the Village of Riverton, and 
7
throughout his life has been dedicated to serving the citizens 
8
of the Village; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Joe Rusciolelli was first elected Village Trustee 
10
in April 1975; he was appointed to fill the vacancy of the 
11
Village President in September 1978; he successfully ran for 
12
Village President in April 1979 to fill the remainder of the 
13
term; he was re-elected in 1981, 1985, and 1989; he was 
14
re-elected to office in April of 1997 and  re-elected in 2001 
15
and 2005; he served as Village President for 26 of the last 30 
16
years; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, During his many years of service and tenure as 
18
Village Trustee and Village President, Joe Rusciolelli 
19
continually met with constituents and business owners to 
20
discuss the many issues and concerns in the Village; he met 
21
regularly with township, county, State, and federal 
22
representatives to discuss issues and to seek grants and

assistance that further supported the Village; and as a result 
2
of all his efforts, the Village has prospered and grown; and
 
3
    WHEREAS, Through his actions and service, the Village of 
4
Riverton has expanded services at Wheeland Park, upgraded the 
5
Veterans Memorial in Veterans Park, created a new park at Field 
6
of Dreams with a new concession pavilion to be constructed, 
7
built a new Village Hall complex, including the utility billing 
8
office, the Police Station, the Library, and the community 
9
room, and improved and expanded sewer service by adding more 
10
sewer lines within the Village; in addition, a new sewer lagoon 
11
is under construction; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, He helped to promote and pass the referendum to 
13
establish the Riverton Library District, upgraded the water 
14
service to include installation of new water towers, made 
15
upgrades to the water purification plant and  installation of 
16
new water supply lines and new wells, continually upgraded and 
17
improved streets with normal maintenance and overlay projects, 
18
supported Village festivals at Riverfest and the Riverton 
19
Athletic Club, and  implemented a city-wide recycling program; 
20
and

 
21
    WHEREAS, He has decided not to run for another term as 
22
Village President; his retirement party is May 3, 2009; his 
23
last day in office will be at the Village Board Meeting on May

4, 2009, after which he will spend more time with his wife Mary 
2
and his other family members; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5
congratulate Joe Rusciolelli on his retirement and commend him 
6
for his hard work and dedication to the Village of Riverton, 
7
and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it 
8
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Riverton Village President Joe Rusciolelli as a 
11
symbol of our respect and admiration.
