| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Norman Grimsley on |
4 |
| the occasion of his retirement as Mayor of Aroma Park; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Norman Grimsley was born on March 3, 1942 in |
6 |
| Fairbury;
he married Pam on March 8, 1964 in Chatsworth; |
7 |
| together, they have two children and four grandchildren; he |
8 |
| graduated from Cullom High School
and attended college at |
9 |
| Kankakee Community College and Normal College (now Illinois |
10 |
| State University); and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Norman Grimsley served in the National Guard, |
12 |
| starting in high school; he also served in the United States
|
13 |
| Army as a dog handler for the Military Police from 1961 to |
14 |
| 1965, where he achieved the rank of Corporal; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Norman Grimsley was elected to serve as Mayor of |
16 |
| Aroma Park
in 1978 and has been in office for all but four |
17 |
| years since; as Mayor, he was responsible for the creation of |
18 |
| Aroma Park's
sewer, increasing the village's size, and numerous |
19 |
| road improvements; during his tenure, the village
acquired |
20 |
| Riggs Grove in 2004 and began the Lowe Road Project in 2006 and |
21 |
| the construction of
the River Run subdivision in 2005; the |
22 |
| village also began selling water to Aqua in 2000
and began |
