HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Linda Gallien on 
4
the occasion of her retirement as Village Clerk of the Village 
5
of Bartlett; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Linda Gallien began her long and distinguished 
7
career with the Village of Bartlett on September 27, 1978, when 
8
she joined the staff as a part-time receptionist in the Village 
9
Clerk's Office; a year later, she was hired on full time in the 
10
Clerk's Office; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Linda Gallien was first appointed to serve as 
12
Bartlett's Village Clerk in December of 1986 to fill the 
13
unexpired term of the previous Village Clerk, Linda Harper; she 
14
subsequently won the consensus of the voters in the next six 
15
consecutive elections; she has served the Village of Bartlett 
16
tirelessly, having missed only one meeting in her 22 years as 
17
Village Clerk; and

    WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Village of Bartlett, 
19
Linda Gallien has seen the village grow from a population of 
20
11,004 to a modern community of nearly 42,000 residents; she 
21
was the first person that many new Bartlett residents 
22
encountered when they came to Village Hall when moving in,

cheerfully welcoming them to their new community and sending 
2
them home with arms full of useful municipal information and 
3
recycling bins; and

 
4
    WHEREAS, Linda Gallien was very active in the North and 
5
Northwest Suburban Cook Municipal Clerks Association and 
6
served in leadership positions for that organization as 
7
Secretary, Vice President for Membership, and President; at the 
8
State level, she also served as the District Two Director for 
9
the Municipal Clerks of Illinois from 1998 to 2001; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Linda Gallien serves as a model of hard work, 
11
integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
12
Illinois; therefore, be it

 
13
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
14
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
15
congratulate Linda Gallien on the occasion of her retirement 
16
and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it 
17
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to Linda Gallien as a symbol of our esteem and 
20
respect.
