HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of William 
4
"Bill" Perkins, who passed away on April 19, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Bill Perkins was a highly respected lobbyist in 
6
Illinois for many years; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, His sense of American history enabled him to meet 
8
11 U.S. presidents, from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to 
9
President Bill Clinton, and to participate in many 
10
organizations relating to the presidency; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He has earned the respect of his professional 
12
peers by being selected as Speaker of the Illinois Third House 
13
in 1967 and being the recipient of that organization's Lifetime 
14
Achievement Award in 2004; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, He was a true son of Illinois, born and raised in 
16
Rushville; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, William Perkins leaves his wife of 60 years, 
18
Eileen; his son, Gary; and many grandchildren and 
19
great-grandchildren; and

    WHEREAS, He will be greatly missed by his family and 
2
friends; therefore, be it

 
3
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5
mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of 
6
William "Bill" Perkins; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the family of William "Bill" Perkins as a symbol 
9
of our sincere sympathy.
