HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Christopher Valent 
4
of Lindenhurst on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of 
5
Eagle Scout on December 22, 2008; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Christopher Valent began his scouting career as a 
7
Tiger Cub in 1997; he steadily climbed the ranks of the Cub 
8
Scouts, reaching the rank of Webelos; once again showing great 
9
initiative, he rose through the Boy Scout ranks until he 
10
reached the pinnacle of achievement within the organization, 
11
the rank of Eagle Scout; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Christopher 
13
Valent organized a bike drive with the Working Bikes 
14
Cooperative; his program collected approximately 200 bikes 
15
that were sent to Angola and other countries in need; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Christopher Valent has served in many positions of 
17
responsibility within the Boy Scouts, including Patrol Leader, 
18
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Librarian; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Christopher Valent is a student at Lakes Community 
20
High School; and

    WHEREAS, Christopher Valent's family, friends, and fellow 
2
Scouts, along with the members of this body, are proud of his 
3
hard work and dedication in gaining this prestigious rank; 
4
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Christopher Valent on the occasion of attaining 
8
the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success 
9
and happiness in the future; and be it further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Christopher Valent as a symbol of our esteem and 
12
respect.
