HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Margit C. Bourelle
4 on the occasion of her 80th birthday on May 5, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Margit Bourelle was born on May 5, 1929 to Swedish
6 immigrants Ida Carlson and Gustav Carlson; she was raised on
7 the northwest side of Chicago; she attended McPherson Grammar
8 School and Amundsen High School; at age 14, while attending
9 Amundsen High School, she started working at a bakery in her
10 neighborhood, working there until she graduated from Amundsen
11 in 1947; and
 
12     WHEREAS, After graduation, Margit Bourelle began working
13 full time for the United States Department of the Treasury as a
14 secretary; between 1949 and 1952, while working full-time, she
15 belonged to the Four Hundred Club at the Aragon Ballroom, where
16 she taught ballroom dancing two nights a week; during this
17 time, she met her future husband, Berwyn Bourelle; they fell in
18 love and were married on August 30, 1952; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Margit Bourelle and her husband started their
20 lives together in a one bedroom apartment at 5543 N. Marmora
21 for 4 years, until their first son Franklin was born in 1956;
22 the couple then moved to a 2-bedroom apartment at 5807 Elston

1 Avenue where, 2 years later, they were blessed with twin girls
2 Doreen and Marlene; the family resided on Elston Avenue for 10
3 years until August of 1967, when the couple purchased their
4 first home, a 4-bedroom brick bungalow on 5837 Marmora Avenue;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Margit Bourelle is the loving grandmother of
7 Alicia, Angela, Marena, Valerie, Tatianna, Bryanna, and
8 Serena; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 congratulate Margit C. Bourelle on the occasion of her 80th
12 birthday and wish her many happy and healthy years to come; and
13 be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Margit Bourelle as a symbol of our esteem and
16 respect.
