| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate John McNary, | ||||||
| 4 | Regional Office of Education #11 Superintendent (encompassing | ||||||
| 5 | Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie, and Shelby | ||||||
| 6 | Counties), on his retirement; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, John McNary is a graduate of Marshall High School, | ||||||
| 8 | attended Dartmouth College, and received his Bachelor of | ||||||
| 9 | Science and Masters of Science in Education degrees from | ||||||
| 10 | Eastern Illinois University; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, He has served as Regional Superintendent since | ||||||
| 12 | 1994 and will retire on June 30, 2009; he was Assistant | ||||||
| 13 | Regional Superintendent from 1985 to 1994; from 1983 to 1985 he | ||||||
| 14 | served as Assistant Principal of Clinton High School; from 1977 | ||||||
| 15 | to 1983 he served as Assistant Principal of Paris High School; | ||||||
| 16 | and from 1968 to 1977 he taught government, economics, and | ||||||
| 17 | sociology at Paris High School, in addition to many other | ||||||
| 18 | coaching and administrative positions throughout the years; | ||||||
| 19 | and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Mr. McNary is a member of the Illinois Association | ||||||
| 21 | of School Administrators, Phi Delta Kappa, the National | ||||||
| 22 | Education Association, the Illinois Principal's Association, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | the National Historic Society, the Illinois Association of | ||||||
| 2 | Regional Superintendent of Schools, and the American | ||||||
| 3 | Association of Educational Service Agencies; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, He was a member of the Edgar County Overall | ||||||
| 5 | Economic Development Committee (1990), Chairman of the City of | ||||||
| 6 | Paris Strategic Planning Committee for the Prevention of | ||||||
| 7 | Substance Abuse (1990-1993), Coach for the Paris Little League | ||||||
| 8 | (1987-1989) and Senior Division (1990-1992), and a member of | ||||||
| 9 | the Edgar County Positive Youth Development Committee (1986); | ||||||
| 10 | in addition, he has served as a member of the Y.M.C.A. Board of | ||||||
| 11 | Directors, Clinton (1985), the Hangar Board, Paris | ||||||
| 12 | (1978-1980), the International Association of Lions' Clubs, | ||||||
| 13 | the Eastern Illinois University (E.I.) Club and Alumni | ||||||
| 14 | Organization, and as a member of the Steering Committee for the | ||||||
| 15 | Development of EdPlex (City of Paris); and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, He is a recipient of the Illinois Education | ||||||
| 17 | Association and National Education Association Region VII | ||||||
| 18 | "Mike Hindman Special Friend to Education" Award and the | ||||||
| 19 | "Dean's Award for Service" from Eastern Illinois University; | ||||||
| 20 | and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, He plans on spending his retirement, along with | ||||||
| 22 | his wife, Constance, visiting their children, Christopher and | ||||||
| 23 | Erin, and spending time with their grandchild, Evan; in | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | addition, Mr. McNary will find time to play golf and travel; | ||||||
| 2 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 5 | congratulate John McNary and wish him well in all his future | ||||||
| 6 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 8 | presented to John McNary as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
