| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Eric Rund of |

| Pesotum on being named the 2008 Champaign News-Gazette Farm |
| 5 |
| Leader of the Year; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Eric Rund operates a corn and soybean farm in |
| 7 |
| southern Champaign County, yet has been making ties with |
| 8 |
| farmers in South America; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, His wife is a native of Ecuador; he owns a farm in |
| 10 |
| Brazil and operates International AGtivities, a company |
| 11 |
| providing tours of United States farms for South Americans and |
| 12 |
| South American farms for United States farmers; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, In addition, Eric Rund has developed a market for |
| 14 |
| biofuels, with his farm being one of the first miscanthus farms |
| 15 |
| in the area; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Rund graduated from Villa Grove High School in |
| 17 |
| 1967, then enrolled at the University of Illinois, where he |
| 18 |
| studied agricultural engineering; he later left the University |
| 19 |
| of Illinois to join the Peace Corps, working at a farm in |
| 20 |
| Ecuador in a town called Santo Domingo De Los Colorados; his |
| 21 |
| experience at the Peace Corps farm gave him a greater |
