HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the pastor and 
4
congregation of Apple River United Methodist Church in Apple 
5
River on the church sesquicentennial; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Reverend John Wesley Lee presented a sermon during 
7
the worship service celebrating 150 years of ministry; Reverend 
8
Lee served the church from 1986 to 1992; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Former Pastor Kirk Stump, who served the church 
10
from 1983 to 1986, remembered and shared memories of his time 
11
at Apple River and current Pastor, Reverend Dr. Elmer Colyer 
12
brought the special service to a close; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, In addition, District Superintendent Reverend 
14
Ouk-Yean Kim Jueng brought the congregation greetings from the 
15
Bishop and cabinet; current student pastor Eric Johnson 
16
reconsecrated the pulpit, baptismal fount, and the Lord's 
17
Table; and

    WHEREAS, Communion was celebrated and a potluck meal was 
19
enjoyed after the historic service; and

    WHEREAS, Church members working together over the last year

prepared for this special service and celebration; therefore, 
2
be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5
congratulate everyone involved in the Apple River United 
6
Methodist Church sesquicentennial celebration and wish them 
7
all the best in their future endeavors; and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the pastor and congregation of the Apple River 
10
United Methodist Church as a symbol of our respect.
