| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The National Moment of Remembrance, established |
| 3 |
| by Congress, asks Americans wherever they are at 3 P.M. local |
| 4 |
| time on Memorial Day to pause for one minute in an act of |
| 5 |
| national unity; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The National Moment of Remembrance seeks to |
| 7 |
| provide a time of remembrance for America's fallen and to make |
| 8 |
| a commitment to give something back to our country in their |
| 9 |
| memory; this moment also helps to provide a sense of history to |
| 10 |
| our citizens and ensure that younger generations understand the |
| 11 |
| sacrifices made to preserve our liberties; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Such a moment should be commemorated by every |
| 13 |
| citizen of the State of Illinois and the nation in honor of our |
| 14 |
| veterans and the selfless sacrifices they have made in the name |
| 15 |
| of freedom; therefore, be it
|
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 18 |
| urge the citizens of the State of Illinois to stand in |
| 19 |
| solidarity in recognizing the National Moment of Remembrance.
