| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor Sgt. Eric J. Weber of |
4 |
| Rockford for his service to his community and his country; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber was born in Sterling on November |
6 |
| 6, 1977; he is the oldest son of Dennis and Janice Weber; he |
7 |
| moved to Poplar Grove in 1987; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber is a graduate of North Boone High |
9 |
| School; during high school he participated in football, |
10 |
| basketball, baseball, track, and chess; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber has served his country with pride |
12 |
| and distinction as a member of the Marine Corps Reserves; after |
13 |
| enlisting on September 17, 1999, he attended boot camp at Camp |
14 |
| Pendleton in California, where he graduated as Squad Leader; |
15 |
| after basic training, he attended Marine Combat Training, where |
16 |
| he graduated as the guide for his platoon; he then graduated |
17 |
| eighth in his class from the Basic Intelligence Specialist |
18 |
| Course at the Marine Intelligence Training Center in Dam Neck, |
19 |
| Virginia; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber was first assigned to the 2nd |
21 |
| Battalion, 24th Marines of the 4th Marine Division, |
|
|

| Headquarters Company, where he served as a drilling reservist; |
2 |
| he was first deployed to Iraq on September 14, 2004 to focus on |
3 |
| eliminating the threat and assist in the first Iraqi election, |
4 |
| where he remained until his return to Illinois on March 30, |
5 |
| 2005; he then re-enlisted and became part of the Intelligence |
6 |
| Support Battalion (ISB), Intelligence Production Team (IPT)-2; |
7 |
| he was then re-deployed to Iraq on September 14, 2008, acting |
8 |
| as the Economic and Political Intelligence Cell Liaison for |
9 |
| Regimental Combat Team 5, Regimental Combat Team 8, and ePRT; |
10 |
| and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber has been the recipient of numerous |
12 |
| ribbons and medals for his service, including the Combat Action |
13 |
| Ribbon, two Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medals, the
Global |
14 |
| War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on |
15 |
| Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, two Sea |
16 |
| Service Deployment Ribbons, the National Defense Service |
17 |
| Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, a Navy Unit |
18 |
| Commendation, the Meritorious Mast, the Armed Forces Reserve |
19 |
| Medal, and a Certificate of Appreciation; he was also |
20 |
| designated as Marine of the Quarter; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber is an active member in his |
22 |
| community; he is a member of the Jaycees, having held the |
23 |
| positions of Treasurer, Secretary, State Director, Sergeant of |
24 |
| Arms, and President of the Belvidere chapter, as well as the |
|

| treasurer for the North West Region; he is a second degree |
2 |
| Mason; he is also a member of the Rockford Realtors |
3 |
| Association, the Home Builders Association, and was a member of |
4 |
| the Citizens Corp for Belvidere in 2006; and |
5 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber currently lives in Rockford; he is |
6 |
| employed with Associated Bank as a residential loan officer; |
7 |
| and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. Eric Weber serves as a model of hard work, |
9 |
| integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
10 |
| Illinois; therefore, be it
|
11 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
12 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
13 |
| honor Sgt. Eric J. Weber for his service to his community and |
14 |
| his country; and be it further
|
15 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 |
| presented to Sgt. Eric Weber as a symbol of our esteem and |
17 |
| respect.
