| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, A healthy public university board of trustees |
| 3 |
| means a vibrant, thriving higher education community; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, While a trustee does not necessarily have to be a |
| 5 |
| graduate of the institution that he or she serves, higher |
| 6 |
| education is best served by trustees that have an intangible |
| 7 |
| love for the institution; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Alumni associations have a unique interaction |
| 9 |
| with the best and brightest and are in the best position to vet |
| 10 |
| potential trustee candidates; therefore, be it
|
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 12 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 13 |
| respectfully request that the alumni association of each public |
| 14 |
| university in this State meet and develop a public and |
| 15 |
| transparent plan to vet and forward potential trustee |
| 16 |
| candidates to the Governor any time there is an opening on the |
| 17 |
| board of trustees; and be it further
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That each alumni association, in selecting |
| 19 |
| potential trustee candidates, search for a person who exhibits |
| 20 |
| love for the institution that he or she would serve and who has |
| 21 |
| years of service to and support of the institution; and be it |
