HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Reverend Derold 
4
and Judy Doughty of First Apostolic Church in Mattoon on their 
5
30th anniversary of ministry; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Reverend Derold and Judy Doughty came to Mattoon 
7
in October of 1979 to pastor the First Apostolic Church, and 
8
for the past 30 years have shepherded the congregation, guided 
9
them, and inspired them to reach out and minister to others all 
10
over the world; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Seeing the need to involve young people in 
12
ministry, they founded the Mattoon Youth Choir, which began 
13
touring in 1982, and has traveled extensively throughout the 
14
United States and overseas every year since then, ministering 
15
to churches small and large, and taking the Gospel to those who 
16
have not heard; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, They established an annual Marriage Retreat for 
18
the married couples of the church to strengthen families of the 
19
church, who, in turn, become strong families in the community; 
20
and

 
21
    WHEREAS,
They have inspired the church to support foreign

missions, to give financially to missions works overseas; and
 
2
    WHEREAS, They had the vision to begin an annual Christmas 
3
Dinner Theater, which each year brings in over 1,200 people to 
4
the historic Time Theater in Mattoon, which the church 
5
purchased and renovated in 2006; and
 
6
    WHEREAS, They have, for the past 10 years, produced the 
7
Easter Drama "I Am He" which brings over 2,500 people from 
8
Mattoon and the surrounding communities to Apostolic Center to 
9
experience a moving portrayal of the Easter story; and

 
10
    WHEREAS,
The Doughty's led the church in building the 
11
current facility at 205 County Club Road in Mattoon in 
12
2002-2003; and they continue to guide the ministries that 
13
reach, touch, and build people in the community of Mattoon and 
14
its surrounding areas in an active pursuit of Jesus Christ; 
15
therefore, be it

 
16
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
17
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
18
congratulate Reverend Derold and Judy Doughty on their ministry 
19
anniversary and wish them continued blessings for years to 
20
come; and be it further

 
21
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
