| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Warren "Chip" |
| 4 |
| Johnson on his retirement as Darien School District #61 School |
| 5 |
| Superintendent; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has spent his entire 41-year career in |
| 7 |
| District #61; during his tenure he served as a teacher for four |
| 8 |
| years, assistant principal for two years, principal for twelve |
| 9 |
| years, assistant superintendent for nine years, and has served |
| 10 |
| the last 15 years as school superintendent; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson oversaw the change of Eisenhower |
| 12 |
| Junior High from a 7-8th grade class building to a 6th, 7th, |
| 13 |
| and 8th grade class center and the creation of grade level |
| 14 |
| centers at DeLay and Lace Schools; he was responsible for the |
| 15 |
| creation of the full day kindergarten program, the first full |
| 16 |
| day kindergarten program in DuPage County, and the building of |
| 17 |
| additions at Eisenhower Junior High, DeLay, and Lace Schools; |
| 18 |
| and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, In addition, he oversaw the sale of Fairview |
| 20 |
| School to the Darien Park District and the sale of Marion Hills |
| 21 |
| School; and
|
|

| WHEREAS, He is an active member of the Illinois Association |
| 2 |
| of School Administrators (IASA) and has held leadership roles |
| 3 |
| within the DuPage Division; he is a long standing member of the |
| 4 |
| Safety Village Governing Board; he has served as Executive |
| 5 |
| Director of the LaGrange Area Division of Special Education |
| 6 |
| (LADSE); and he is responsible for the updated technology in |
| 7 |
| Darien District # 61 schools; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was responsible for the creation of a |
| 9 |
| district administrative center in the Lace School building; he |
| 10 |
| is an active member of the Legislative Education Network of |
| 11 |
| DuPage (LEND) and the Education Research Development for |
| 12 |
| Legislation group in Illinois (EDRed), where he regularly met |
| 13 |
| With State legislators to discuss educational issues; he has |
| 14 |
| testified before the Illinois House and Senate on the behalf of |
| 15 |
| the children of Darien, Dupage County, and Illinois; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He is an active member of the Darien Area Public |
| 17 |
| Administrators Association (DAPA), and he has been an active |
| 18 |
| member for over 25 years in the Darien Lions; therefore, be it
|
| 19 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 20 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 21 |
| congratulate Mr. Johnson on his retirement and thank him for |
| 22 |
| his years of service to the children of Darien School District |
| 23 |
