HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Cynthia Vandrush, 
4
Principal of Emmons School, on her retirement; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Principal Vandrush joined Emmons School District 
6
33 in 1981 as an art teacher; she taught art, kindergarten, and 
7
the fourth grade before becoming principal in 1994; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, She has made her home in Antioch for more than 30 
9
years; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Some of her accomplishments have included 
11
establishing a fun, space-themed activity that is still in use 
12
today and creating other novel programs, such as an elementary 
13
Spanish program, monthly spirit assemblies, and computer based 
14
testing; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, A special assembly was held honoring Principal 
16
Vandrush and other retiring teachers on May 22, 2009; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, During that assembly, Principal Vandrush was 
18
presented with student paintings that explained why she is a 
19
"fine, fine principal" and  was awarded a  mayoral proclamation 
20
declaring May 27, 2009 as "Dr. Cyndy Vandrush Day" in Antioch;

therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
congratulate Cynthia Vandrush, Principal of Emmons School, on 
5
her retirement and wish her the best in all her future 
6
endeavors; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to Cynthia Vandrush as a symbol of our respect and 
9
esteem.
