HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the administration 
4
and staff of Memorial Hospital in Hancock County on the grand 
5
opening of the new hospital facility on July 12, 2009; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Memorial Hospital broke ground on Saturday, May 
7
31, 2008, the first major step in the construction process; the 
8
new hospital will have a total cost of approximately $25 
9
million; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Memorial Hospital is the second largest employer 
11
in Hancock County with 250 employees and an annual payroll of 
12
$7,000,000; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, The first Memorial Hospital was built in 1949 in 
14
honor of returning World War II veterans; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Memorial Hospital is the primary source of health 
16
care in Hancock County, offering 24/7 emergency room care, 
17
cardiopulmonary and surgical services, diagnostic imaging, 
18
physical therapy, and obstetrics services; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, The theme of the grand opening is "Honoring the 
20
Past, Ensuring the Future"; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate the administration and staff of Memorial Hospital 
4
and wish them the best as the opening of the new facility; and 
5
be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to a representative of Memorial Hospital as a symbol 
8
of our respect.
