| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Pastor F. Dean | ||||||
| 4 | Lueking on the occasion of winning the Distinguished Eagle | ||||||
| 5 | Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, the most | ||||||
| 7 | prestigious level of recognition in Scouting, is given to those | ||||||
| 8 | men who have earned their Eagle Scout rank at least 25 years | ||||||
| 9 | earlier in life and then went on to distinguish themselves by | ||||||
| 10 | achieving prominence within their profession and through | ||||||
| 11 | volunteer leadership and service; out of over 2 million Eagle | ||||||
| 12 | Scouts, less than 2,000 have achieved this level of | ||||||
| 13 | distinction; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Pastor F. Dean Lueking is an | ||||||
| 15 | internationally-known Lutheran minister; for 44 years, he | ||||||
| 16 | served as Pastor of the 1,700-member Grace Lutheran Church of | ||||||
| 17 | River Forest; during his tenure, he faithfully led the | ||||||
| 18 | congregation spiritually and continually strived for | ||||||
| 19 | excellence in all of the church's undertakings, including the | ||||||
| 20 | implementation of ground-breaking new ministries and outreach | ||||||
| 21 | programs and the construction of a multi-million dollar | ||||||
| 22 | facility expansion to support those ministries; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, In addition to his duties as Pastor, Pastor | ||||||
| 2 | Lueking has written 10 religious books and maintains an | ||||||
| 3 | international schedule of traveling, teaching, preaching, and | ||||||
| 4 | writing; he has also served and held leadership positions on | ||||||
| 5 | numerous non-profit boards and has been the recipient of many | ||||||
| 6 | awards and honors; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Pastor Lueking and his wife, Beverly, have served | ||||||
| 8 | as foster parents to over 30 children; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Des Plaines Valley Council and Boy Scout Troop | ||||||
| 10 | 66 will present the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award to Pastor | ||||||
| 11 | Lueking during a ceremony at Grace Lutheran Church in River | ||||||
| 12 | Forest on August 1, 2009; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Pastor Lueking serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 14 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Pastor F. Dean Lueking on the occasion of winning | ||||||
| 19 | the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award and wish him continued | ||||||
| 20 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
