HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Frankfort resident 
4
Christine Brooks for being selected as one of 2009's 
5
Illinoisans of the Year; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Each year, the Illinois State Fair Museum 
7
Foundation looks to honor dedicated community servants who make 
8
a difference in their community and show a true Illinois spirit 
9
through hard work and dedication to helping others; and
 
10
    WHEREAS, Christine Brooks has spent the majority of her 
11
adult life volunteering as a lecturer, tour guide, and curator 
12
at nature centers, and has contributed to maintaining and 
13
preserving local history in the Village of Worth and 
14
surrounding communities; and
 
15
    WHEREAS, Christine Brooks was instrumental in creating the 
16
Worth Historical Society in 1994; she has dedicated her time to 
17
a variety of school programs and the publication of a "History 
18
of Worth" and the "Historic Homes of Worth"; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, She also has volunteered countless hours working 
20
on displays, presenting programs, cataloging, researching, 
21
maintaining family genealogy, and maintaining a museum and

historical society that future generations will appreciate; 
2
she traces her love for nature and history to the time she 
3
spent on her uncle and aunt's farm as a child; and

 
4
    WHEREAS, Christine Brooks serves on the Community Center 
5
Foundation in Palos Park and is a member of the Illinois & 
6
Michigan Heritage Canal Corridor Association; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, On Friday, August 21, 2009, Christine Brooks was 
8
honored as the Grand Marshall of the Illinois State Fair; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Christine Brooks has served as a model of 
10
volunteerism for the people of the State of Illinois; she and 
11
her husband, Carroll, have two children, Joseph and Rosemary; 
12
therefore, be it

 
13
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
14
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
15
congratulate Christine Brooks as one of 2009's Illinoisans of 
16
the Year; and be it further

 
17
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18
presented to Christine Brooks as a symbol of our respect and 
19
esteem.
