HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of 
4
Eleftherios "Larry" Saravanos of Plainfield, who passed away on 
5
August 27, 2009; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, He was born in the Village of Karistos, Euboea, 
7
Greece, on May 8, 1950; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, He ran a small restaurant in Greece before 
9
immigrating to the United States in the early 1970s; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, He began his career in the restaurant business as 
11
a busboy, then as a cook, before opening Saravans in 
12
Midlothian; he moved to Plainfield in 1993 and opened Larry's 
13
Diner; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, He was known as a generous man, giving away turkey 
15
dinners for senior citizens on Thanksgiving Day and giving to 
16
the Greek Church and his overall generosity to the Plainfield 
17
community; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, He is survived by his children, Sam and Peggy; and 
19
his grandchild, Constantine; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of 
4
Eleftherios "Larry" Saravanos; and be it further

 
5
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to the family of Eleftherios "Larry" Saravanos as a 
7
symbol of our sincere sympathy.
