| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edward P. |
| 4 |
| Morrissey of Sandwich, who passed away on August 2, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on September 18, 1943 in Chicago, the |
| 6 |
| son of Dennis J. and Margaret Scott Morrissey; he married Elsie |
| 7 |
| Campbell in 1984; he was a 1961 graduate of Loyola Academy in |
| 8 |
| Wilmette, where he was co-captain of the football team; and |
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He joined the Jesuit Society of Jesus from 1961 to |
| 10 |
| 1968; during his time in the Jesuit seminary at Milford, Ohio, |
| 11 |
| he obtained a bachelor degree in Classics (Latin and Greek); he |
| 12 |
| taught English and Sociology at St. Xavier High School and |
| 13 |
| coached soccer during this time; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He graduated from Boston College in 1967 with a |
| 15 |
| degree in Philosophy; he received his Juris Doctor in 1974 from |
| 16 |
| Creighton University Law School in Omaha, Nebraska; he |
| 17 |
| practiced law in Elmhurst and was a Cook County Assistant |
| 18 |
| State's Attorney before marrying Elsie (Campbell) in 1984; he |
| 19 |
| practiced family law in Sandwich for 22 years; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, In 1994, he ran for Circuit Court Judge for the |
| 21 |
| 16th Judicial Circuit and for De Kalb County State's Attorney |
