HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jim Corsi on the occasion of being the recipient of the 3M Outstanding Economic Educator Award; and

WHEREAS, The 3M Outstanding Economic Educator Award is given by 3M and Econ Illinois to educators that provide leadership for economics in their schools, show evidence of professional growth in economic education, and affect student achievement or growth in economic understanding; and

WHEREAS, Jim Corsi currently teaches economics at Gibault Catholic High School in Waterloo; his classes are based around the practical applications of economic decision-making, utilizing such resources as a growing collection of reference materials for the students and the Stock Market Game program; his classes also integrate economics into the study of American history; and

WHEREAS, Jim Corsi's innovative method of instruction has inspired many other teachers to include economics in their classes and has motivated students to pursue economics in their studies; and

WHEREAS, Jim Corsi will receive the 3M Outstanding Economic Educator Award and a cash prize at the Econ Illinois Annual Economic Educator Day Awards Luncheon, which will be held at the Union League Club of Chicago on October 27, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Jim Corsi serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jim Corsi on the occasion of being the recipient of the 3M Outstanding Economic Educator Award and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jim Corsi as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
