HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jerry Pelz  on his 
4
40th anniversary as founder and executive director of the 
5
Northeast Community Fund in Decatur; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Jerry also works with St. John's Lutheran Church 
7
in Decatur; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, The Northeast Community Fund distributes 
9
approximately 1,200 boxes of food each month to the community, 
10
helping tens of thousands in need; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, In its first month of operations, the Northeast 
12
Community Fund helped one or two families with food and 
13
clothing; today the Fund helps families with emergency funds, 
14
prescription medication, diapers, baby formula, and paying 
15
utility bills; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Jerry Pelz is a graduate of Valparaiso University; 
17
and

 
18
    WHEREAS, He has served on the original boards of Good 
19
Samaritan Inn and the Central Illinois Food Bank; he is a Board 
20
Member Emeritus for the Macon County Mental Health Association;

and has served on the boards of the Decatur Mental Health 
2
Center (now, Heritage Behavioral Health), the Co-op Extension, 
3
Decatur First Call for Help, and the Boy Scouts of America; 
4
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Jerry Pelz and wish him continued success in the 
8
future; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Jerry Pelz as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
