HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4
FootworKINGz on the occasion of the release of the group's 
5
first DVD, "Take Flight"; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The art of Footwork has gained popularity for over 
7
20 years with its highly energized lower body movement, which 
8
emphasizes constant rhythmic motions of the feet; footwork has 
9
attracted diverse audiences by applying footwork dance moves to 
10
various music genres, including rock, electronic, and swing 
11
music; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, The FootworKINGz have been on the Chicago scene as 
13
a supergroup since 2007; the group has appeared on Ellen 
14
Degeneres' Really Big Show for TBS, the VH-1 Hip Hop Honors 
15
with Missy Elliot, and MTV's My Block Party Chicago; the group 
16
has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, NBC 5 Morning News, 
17
Rolling Stone Magazine, and the Verizon Wireless "Do the Juke" 
18
commercial; in addition, 6 of the group's members have appeared 
19
on NBC's "America's Got Talent"; and

    WHEREAS, FootworKINGz is composed of 12 members, which 
21
include Kemo "King Kemo" Sanders, Charles "King Charles" Parks, 
22
TJ "Mr. Westside", Boodilla, Christopher "Maddog" Thomas,

Jaron "Prince Jron" Boyd, Basic, Kendall "Hollywood K" Larkin,

AG, Pause Eddie, and Kenny Tyreese Footwork Livingston; the 
3
group's manager and founder is Leila "Lady Sol" Villegas; and

    WHEREAS, The FootworKINGz will celebrate the release of 
5
their new DVD with an event at the Harold Washington Cultural 
6
Center in Chicago on October 3, 2009; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9
congratulate the members of the FootworKINGz on the occasion of 
10
the release of the group's first DVD and for the group's 
11
efforts to inspire the youth of the City of Chicago; and be it 
12
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to Leila Villegas as a symbol of our esteem and 
15
respect.
