1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joyce

4 Brooks of Williamsville, who passed away on September 12, 2009;

5 and

6 WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks was born on October 24, 1941 in

7 Waverly; she was the daughter of Woodrow Brian and Clara Evans

8 Scurlock; she married Ray Brooks on June 7, 1959 at the

9 Williamsville Christian Church in Williamsville; and

10 WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks retired from St. John's Hospital

11 after 24 years of dedicated service; and

12 WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks enjoyed camping, fishing, attending

13 her grandson's basketball games, and spending time with her

14 family; she also loved video games and even had her own

15 controller, which she hid so others could not use it; and

16 WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks had a remarkable attitude and was a

17 joy to be around; she was a devoted wife, mother, and

18 grandmother who will be remembered for the wonderful impact she

19 had on the lives of everyone she met; and

20 WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks was preceded in death by her son,

1 David Brooks; her brothers, Johnny Orlove and Bobbie Scurlock;

2 and her parents; and

3 WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks is survived by her husband of 50

4 years, Ray Brooks; her daughter, Diane (Kent) Thompson; her

5 sisters, Helen Brian, Debra (Bob) Rath, and Rebecca (Tracy)

6 Warden; her grandchildren, Katrina and Trevor Thompson and

7 Sophie and Matt Brooks; her several nieces, nephews, and

8 cousins; and her lifelong treasured friend, Linda Bileck;

9 therefore, be it

10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

11 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

12 mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Joyce

13 Brooks; and be it further

14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

15 presented to the family of Joyce Brooks as an expression of our

16 sympathy.
