| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Clifford |
4 |
| Ripley of Marion, who passed away on August 30, 2009; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Clifford Ripley was born November 24, 1924, in |
6 |
| Moweaqua, the son of Oscar L. and Nellie (Babbs) Ripley; he |
7 |
| married Virginia Mae Edens on November 3, 1947, in Gibson City; |
8 |
| and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, He was a lifelong member and trustee of Marion |
10 |
| Independent Baptist Church; he retired from the Illinois State |
11 |
| Health Department in 1986; he was an active member of the |
12 |
| National Association of Sanitarians, where he served a term as |
13 |
| president and a term as vice-president; and he was named the |
14 |
| unsung hero for Southern Illinois in February 2002 for his |
15 |
| dedication to bringing travel documentaries and movies to |
16 |
| residents of local area nursing homes; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of AFSCME Illinois Retirees |
18 |
| Chapter 31 and Marine Corps League Shawnee Detachment 812, |
19 |
| which honored him in 2003 as Marine of the Year; he was a |
20 |
| supporter and major influence in the Toys for Tots program |
21 |
| every year; and
|

| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. |

| Ripley; his parents; and all seven of his siblings; and
|

| WHEREAS, Clifford Ripley is survived by his sons, James L. |
4 |
| Ripley and wife, Linda and David W. Ripley and wife, Karol; his |
5 |
| daughters, Wrayanne R. Flasar, Gena M. Carmen, and Connie J. |
6 |
| Rowe; his grandchildren, Lara "Jane" Flasar, Brandon Ripley and |
7 |
| wife, Cassiey, Heather Cronin and husband, Matt, Mindy Carmen, |
8 |
| Greg Carmen, Brittany Ripley, Ashley Ripley, Briana Rowe, and |
9 |
| Makenna Rowe; his great-grandchildren, Tyler Black, Kaden |
10 |
| Ripley, and Karter Ripley; and his many nieces and nephews; |
11 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
13 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
14 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
15 |
| Clifford Riley; and be it further
|
16 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 |
| presented to the family of Clifford Ripley as a symbol of our |
18 |
| sincere sympathy.
