HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the students, 
4
faculty, staff, and administration of Metea Valley High School 
5
on the occasion of the school's dedication ceremony on October 
6
4, 2009; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The creation of Metea Valley High School started 
8
in 2006, when Indian Prairie School District 204 successfully 
9
passed a referendum to establish a new high school; with the 
10
support of the community, Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner, and the 
11
local PTA and Booster clubs, the district held an official 
12
groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Metea Valley on 
13
June 3, 2008; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, In the 2009-2010 school year, Metea Valley High 
15
School began operating under the capable leadership of Jim 
16
Schmid, former principal of Waubonsie Valley High School; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Metea Valley High School carries on the tradition 
18
of its namesake, the Potawatomi Chief Metea, in its commitment 
19
to excellence in education; therefore, be it

 
20
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

congratulate the students, faculty, staff, and administration

of Metea Valley High School on the occasion of the school's

dedication ceremony and wish them continued success and

happiness in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to Jim Schmid, principal of Metea Valley High School, 
7
as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
